Integrate existing drives into any PLC control system (Fieldbus or Industrial Ethernet)
Connect a non-networked drive to a PLC control system (via its serial/CAN interface)
Embed multi-network capability into a new drive series
A typical retro-fitting application scenario is connecting drives from Rockwell Automation or other manufacturers which use EtherNet/IP into a Siemens PLC system using PROFIBUS or PROFINET or vice versa!
Anybus® X-gateways™ connect any TWO combinations of fieldbus or industrial Ethernet networks. The X-gateways primary function is a fast transfer of cyclic I/O data between the two networks.

Keep an existing, well-performing non-networked drive by connecting it to a PLC control system using its serial RS-232/422/485 or CAN-based interface. No need for any hardware or software changes.
Anybus® Communicator™ connects to the drive's RS-232/422/485 interface and translates the serial/CAN data stream into a fieldbus or industrial Ethernet protocol. The drive will then be represented as a Slave/Adapter on the PLC control network.

Need to have real-time industrial Ethernet and traditional fieldbus connectivity for a new drive series that can sell in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Also, require the integration of motion profiles and support for synchronization.
Anybus® CompactCom™ products are ready-made communication interfaces for fieldbus and industrial Ethernet, which you embed into your product. You choose the form factor depending on how integrated you want the solution to be — Chip, Brick or Module.

Anybus CompactCom makes your drives "network neutral." This means that you can offer your products to new markets or segments without making changes to your drives. If you need connectivity to a new network, the time-to-market is almost instant.
Anybus technology gets your drives ready for real-time communication in the modern factory. Apart from fast and secure communication, you also get IT functions such as email, integrated web server, FTP and socket interface.
With Anybus you can rest assured that you always have the latest network technology inside your drives and that your offering is future proof.
How does Anybus CompactCom handle drive and motion profiles?
Put simply: it doesn’t. Instead, HMS offers a ready-made Profile Driver Package — source code which you implement into your drive to get profile support for different networks. This will give you maximum performance and enable you to support exactly the functionality you need for your preferred networks.
Data is not “translated” inside the Anybus CompactCom. Rather, it passes through the module’s transparent channel unchanged and the conversion of profile-specific data is done in your drive with the help of the HMS’ Profile Driver Package.
This will give you very fast data transfer and only support for the functions you really need. The ready-made source code from HMS can be quickly adapted to your drive. HMS expertise is also available if you need help implementing the programming stacks into your drive.
Want to enable easy commissioning of Drives where configuration, monitoring and start-up can all be made remotely, saving time and travel costs at the same time, increasing your service capacity.
Attach a Netbiter® Gateway from HMS to your Drives through either a Modbus, EtherNet/IP or CAN interface. From here you can configure the Drives with the PLC system, monitor live values of the Drives performance, and provide fast support and assistance if required.
