Conformance & Certification
Fieldbus/Ethernet Conformance
HMS policy is that all Anybus
products, where applicable, shall be tested and
verified for Fieldbus/Ethernet conformance. This
is normally a test done by the specific fieldbus
organisation, but can also in some specific cases
be a HMS verification done with a tool recommended
by the fieldbus organisation or with help of reference
customers. The reason for this certification or
pre-certification is that HMS want to verify that
all modules follow the specification of the different
fieldbuses and that our embedded modules will pass
a product certification done by our customer, using
our embedded module as the fieldbus interface.
Anybus
conformance guidelines documentation
Most fieldbus organisations have third party test labs to test and verify that
each fieldbus product is compliant with the standard and follow the interoperability
expectations when used with other vendors products. HMS works closely with each
organisation to make sure that all our products meet the specifications and pass
each test. HMS has made over 100 fieldbus Conformance Certifications tests for
HMS products as well as helping our customers to get a fieldbus conformity for
their products.
CE & UL Certification
Anybus
and CE mark
The
CE mark has its origin
in the European Community.
Since 1990 it is a legal
requirement of all electronics
products used on the
European Market. For
Electronic/Electric products
the EMC directive (EMC
= Electro Magnetic Compliance)
is mandatory.AnyBus can
be viewed as a component
and as a component the
CE mark is not mandatory.
However, the HMS policy is that the product shall be CE marked and shall pass
the EMC directives defined as products. This makes the use of Anybus much easier
and more reliable for our customers, due to the fact that the module itself is
tested and approved for CE.
HMS is a co-owner of an EMC lab and has many years of experience in the complicated
area of EMC. All our products are tested in our own EMC laboratory and are finally
verified by the Competent Body in Sweden, namely SP, the Swedish National Testing
and Research Institute.
Anybus
and UL Marking
The Anybus Embedded product
range has been approved by UL (Underwriters Laboratories
Inc) and have “UL & cUL” certification. The tests have been
performed according to standards for industrial control equipment UL-508, with
Anybus being regarded as a Programmable Controller. The fact that Anybus is
UL certified simplifies the integration of Anybus to products and applications
that are or will be UL compliant. As a component that is integrated in customer's
products, Anybus is a recognized component marked with the RU-mark and the
cRU-mark for the Canadian market.A UL approval means that UL has tested and
evaluated samples of that product and determined that they meet UL's requirements.
In addition, products are periodically checked by UL at the manufacturing facility
to make sure they continue to meet UL requirements.

Where possible HMS provides PDF "Declaration
of Conformance" certificates for all Anybus products. The certifcates are
listed under each specific Anybus product in this section of the website.
