Anybus-NetTool - Questions & Answers

Read the most common questions about the Anybus NetTool Configuration Tool for Profibus & DeviceNet

Q: I would like to test the NetTool software before buying a full copy, is there an evaluation version available?
A: Yes, for both NetTool-PB and NetTool-DN there are evaluation versions available on HMS website for download. These are the full versions, but with the limitation that you can only configure two slave on the network.

Q: What is the difference between NetTool-DN and the NetTool-DN-D?
A: The traditional way of configuring a DeviceNet network is to connect a serial-to-DeviceNet adapter (“KFD”) between a PC running the configuration software and the DeviceNet network. This gives the advantage that you can connect your PC to any point of the DeviceNet network and make your configuration and monitoring. The NetTool-DN-D is a bundled package with the software and a serial-to-DeviceNet adapter. This should be used with Embedded Anybus-M and Anybus-X Gateways.

If you use a Anybus-PCI DeviceNet Scanner, the most common installation is that the PCI card is installed in the same PC than runs the Configuration Software, the NetTool-DN allows you to download configuration and do monitoring without going out on the DeviceNet network. The NetTool-DN does not include the serial-to-DeviceNet adapter.

Q: What’s the system requirement on my PC to run the different NetTool software?
A: NetTool support the operating systems Windows 98/ME/2000/NT/XP. The system requirements are Intel Pentium™ or equivalent processor, 24MB of RAM, VGA adapter, CD-Rom, Mouse
