Master
Simulators - Questions & Answers |
Read the most common
questions about the Master Simulators for Profibus & DeviceNet
Q: How can
I simulate a Profibus/DeviceNet or CANopen network?
A: The easiest way is to use
the HMS Master Simulators. The simulators are
connected via serial or USB port to a standard PC. The software can dectect
all connected devices automatically and shows the initialized I/O
communication sizes. In the main screen of the delivered software two fields
for input and output data will appear. The output data can be set manually
to values in HEX-format or bit wise.
Q: Does the Mastersimulators support the device specific
data
files?(GSD/EDS)
A: Yes, for the Profibus Master simulator. Its possible to start the Master
in a simple start up mode where the Master Simulator will detect the
I/O-Size by itself. On the other hand it is possible to run the Master
Simulator with the specific GSD-file. In an additional window the specific
modules can be set. Both the DeviceNet and CANopen Master Simulators work both with or without EDS-files.
Q: Does the Profibus-DP Master Simulator support User Parameter?
A: Yes, in the "Open GSD" window a additional field for
user parameter data
is available. The data bytes can be set manually seperated by blanks.
Q: Does the DeviceNet Master Simulator software support the USB- and a
parallel-port version?
A: Yes, but please note that the older versions of the DeviceNet Master
Simulator software does only support the parallel port version. Please ask
the support team about an update version. It is available for free.
Q: Are the Master Simulators are working also with
devices from other
vendors?
A: Yes, the Mastersimulators are using typical data communication
frames and
physics acording to their fieldbus specification. Other vendor devices that
are working according to this fieldbus specifications are also working
together with the Master Simulators.
