Typical uses of Anybus RemoteCom

Alarm Management
Anybus RemoteCom contains built-in features for alarm handling. RemoteCom can send alarm messages with email, SMS or SNMP directly to authorized service personnel. (SMS alarms require an external GSM modem). A maximum of 64 alarm parameters can be configured.

The alarm page allows conditions and trigger levels to be easily configured. It also shows all active and unacknowledged alarms. It is also possible to select to view the status of all configured alarms, as well as, all alarms that have occurred.

Diagnostics and Visualization
Anybus RemoteCom can gather and present live and historical logged data from connected devices. The built-in web server presents the data in the form of visual trend graphs. It is also possible to send the logged files (.csv) via FTP or E-mail for further analysis in Excel or other tools.

By analysing historical data, device manaufacturers can learn about how the users operate the device and thier process. RemoteCom provides opportunites to analyse these patterns. This data could be used to better understand the end users needs and to be able to modify a product or offer to these users in the future.

Remote Control

Anybus RemoteCom provides the ability to remotely control devices. RemoteCom enables authorized users to select and modify device parameters such as, target values or operation mode.

In the example below, using the web inteface and via a defined control parameter, an authorized user accesses the water pump and uses RemoteCom to remotely switch the pump on or off.

Anybus RemoteCom setup and configuration

RemoteCom device configurationRemoteCom web interface
The RemoteCom web interface has been designed specifically to simplify remote management of industrial devices and machinery.

The setup function gets you up and running quickly and allows you to easily configure and administrate all user privileges and network settings.

Device configuration is made by using templates. The pre-defined layout and support for device templates makes device configuration easy. Users do not need to have Modbus experience when using the predefined templates.

The web configuration function allows the user to define templates for different products and configurations, and then easily re-use and distribute them. A template contains available parameters in a device type. These parameters include: Parameter Names, Modbus register types and addresses, data scaling and presentation.

HMS's friendly and qualified support personnel and global distributor network are also on-hand to assist you with your configuration if required. The online management server also contains a library of device templates which can be downloaded to assist you with your configuration.

RemoteCom IP Config
The IPconfig utility is a PC-based configuration utility to set TCP/IP network settings in the RemoteCom.

This utility has the ability to scan the Ethernet network for connected RemoteCom devices and let the user set IP-address, net mask, gateway, DNS and hostname for each unit.

The IPconfig tool is a free tool that is contained on the resources CD thats supplied with the Anybus RemoteCom device or it can be downloaded from the RemoteCom support pages on this website.

Online management server
Online Management Server - www.netbiter.net

Included with Anybus RemoteCom is connectivity to the secure online management server "www.netbiter.net" hosted by HMS's daughter company, Intellicom Innovation.

The online management server gives customers of RemoteCom unique possibilities. The web site www.netbiter.net has the purpose to manage RemoteCom devices connected to any remote equipment.

The RemoteCom devices connect to the online server to submit equipment data, such as logged parameter data and alarms. At the server an authorized user can view and manage this information.

The only tool the user needs is a standard web browser. The use of one central location for all remote equipment simplifies the work for anyone dealing with remote installations.

Included "basic" server functionality

With a RemoteCom unit an account to netbiter.net is included. The account provides basic services suitable for one RemoteCom unit.

The table below shows the server capabilities available to the basic account.

Extended server functionality

The extended netbiter.net service allows you to so much more with Anybus RemoteCom from just one central location.

Trending
Store data log files at netbiter.net and view trend graphs of selected parameter data. Analyze trends to detect early warning of malfunctioning equipment. To be proactive to problems saves time and money immediately as travels to sites can be dramatically reduced.

Positioning
View the location of remote equipment on a map. Connect an external GPS sender to your devices in order to instruct sevice personnel exactly to the device location, however remote that location is. Easy and improved planning of service routes saves time for any service organization. When an alarm occurs in equipment, that unit in the map will automatically be highlighted.

Alarm management
As soon as the remote equipment detects an alarm or event condition, the netbiter.net server is informed. The user can instantly view current active alarms from each project and remote equipment. The alarm list is an important tool for analyzing the health of equipment.

Management of users, projects etc.
One central place for management of users, remote equipment and critical information. Store important blue prints, pictures, templates and more.
