Typical uses within a Factory Network

Single-Drop Mode

In this example, by using EtherNet/IP the Communicator is connected to the PLC. With a serial cable the Communicator connects to only 1 node on the serial side using Modbus RTU or ASCII on RS232.

Multi-Drop Mode

In this example, by using Profibus the Communicator is connected to the PLC. With a serial cable the Communicator can connect up to 31 node on the serial side using Modbus RTU or ASCII on RS422/RS485.
