Rockwell "DF1" serial protocol support added to the Anybus Communicator gateway family

Via the Anybus Communicator, HMS now provides easy fieldbus and industrial Ethernet connectivity for industrial devices that have a Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley "DF1"protocol interface. Almost any DF1 supported device can now be connected to all major industrial networks and PLC systems.

The DF1 protocol support is provided through the free “ABC Config Tool” software used for configuring the serial sub-network of the Anybus Communicator. No programming skills are required and no changes are necessary at the field device.

The Anybus Communicator is a proven and trusted intelligent protocol converter that connects automation devices via their serial interface (RS-232/422/485). No expensive hardware changes or PLC function blocks are required.

The Communicator supports almost any serial protocol. In most cases the Communicator acts as a master on the serial sub-network. In master mode, the Communicator supports, Modbus-RTU, DF1, or Custom Response/Request protocols. Alternatively, in Generic Data Mode, ASCII based Produce/Consume protocols can be implemented.

Anybus Communicator gateways are tested and proven with all leading manufacturers of PLC's such as, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, ABB, Omron, Hitachi, Beckhoff, Phoenix Contact, Bosch Rexroth and many more.

HMS will make the latest version of the "ABC Config Tool, Version 4.0.0.7" with DF1 protocol support, available for download from the support section of the website from 1st July 2010.

1SI CANopen module for SIMATIC ET200S I/O now with CAN 2.0A support

HMS has now extended the functionality of the 1SI CANopen module for the SIMATIC ET200S I/O system with the integration of transparent CAN 2.0A.

With this new functionality, the 1 SI CANopen module allows transmission of any CAN frame from the PLC via Profibus or Profinet and the 1SI CANopen module to any kind of CAN devices, regardless of the overlaying CAN protocol.

HMS provides new PLC function blocks for this functionality, that gives the programmer of the PLC program (STEP7) the possibility to interpret/generate any CAN frame directly in the PLC program and thereby making it possible to implement customer specific CAN protocols.

The 1SI CANopen enables the easy integration of CANopen/CAN enabled devices within the Siemens Profibus and Profinet based automation architecture. Typical applications include all kinds of machines and automation systems where CANopen/CAN enabled drives and Siemens PLCs are used. The 1SI CANopen module can be engineered with STEP7 which helps users to minimize engineering efforts.

HMS releases new embedded Anybus-CC module supporting the CIP network "CompoNet"

HMS has released a new embedded communication module for CompoNet, yet another addition to the ever growing Anybus CompactCom (Anybus-CC) product family. With the release of the CompoNet module, HMS completes its offer for CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) supported networks. The new embedded communication module reduces development efforts by up to 70%, speeds up time-to-market and minimizes development risk.

The Anybus-CC communication module provides device manufacturers with a fast and easy way to connect their automation devices to CompoNet.

Anybus-CC is a family of interchangeable plug-in communication modules supporting 18 different fieldbus and industrial Ethernet technologies. All modules come in a secure housing about the size of a compact flash card. The core of the module is HMS´s NP30 microprocessor. The hardware and software application interface of the Anybus-CC module for CompoNet functions in the same manner as all other Anybus-CC modules, therefore, the new module is fully interchangeable with all other active Anybus-CC modules.
