Instruments and Sensors using Anybus
technology
Industrial
Instruments and Sensors, such as Flow Meters or Tank
Level Sensors, used to be devices with one output
signal, normally 4-20mA that was transferred to an
analogue input of a DCS or PLC system. Nowadays an
industrial instrument or advanced sensor is a networked
device with multiple input- and output values as
well as built in intelligence for its local processing
and control.
The type of networks that is required for the instrument
or sensor, is normally defined by the brand of DCS/PLC its connected
to. The large PLC vendors, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Schneider
Electric and Mitsubishi all have their own preferred networks, which
creates a demand for device manufacturers to support a large number
of networks with their product, all depended what market they serve.
Three categories of Embedded Anybus products are suitable
for Instruments and Sensors:

Anybus
CompactCom
HMS latest product development is a high
functionally but low-cost embedded unit that integrate
the complete communication technology, hardware
and software, into a compact unit. The Anybus CompactCom
interchangeability gives manufacturers of instruments
or sensors maximum flexibility and after one “design
in” their
product can support all major networks. Anybus CompactCom support all the networks
for fieldbus and industrial Ethernet, but also USB, serial, and wireless. Read

Anybus-S
This product has been used in sensors and instruments
around the world since 1999 and it has been a great success, thousands of sensors
and instruments are networked with Anybus-S in applications for Oil & Gas,
Agriculture, Discrete Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Process Industries
and Pharmaceuticals where Anybus-S is the communication interface to support
different Fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet networks. Read

Anybus-IC
This product is developed to
target low end applications, providing a simple,
quick and cost efficient way to implement a communication
solution in a sensor inside an instrument. Read
