Weighscales and Embedded Anybus
technology
Scales
used to be offline devices at the end of the manufacturing
line. Nowadays an industrial scale is a networked
device installed in the automated manufacturing line.
Even if the primary measure is just the weight, a modern scales has
a lot of built-in intelligence and needs an industrial
network to communicate with the supervisory system,
normally a PLC.
The type of networks that is required for the scale,
is normally dictated by the brand of PLC it's connected
to. The large PLC vendors, Siemens, Rockwell Automation,
Schneider Electric and Mitsubishi all have their
own preferred networks, which creates a demand
for scale manufacturers to support a large number
of networks with their product, all depended what
market they serve.
Three categories of Embedded Anybus products are suitable
for Weighscales:
Anybus-CompactCom
HMS
latest product development is a high functionally
but low-cost embedded unit that integrate the complete
communication technology, hardware and software,
into a compact unit. The Anybus-CompactCom interchangeability
gives manufactures of scales maximum flexibility
and after one “design in” their product
can support all major networks.
Anybus-CompactCom support all the networks for fieldbus
and Industrial Ethernet, but also USB, serial, and
wireless. This is key benefit for scales applications
since a scale also can be used in “light industrial” applications,
like warehouses and packaging. Support for fieldbus,
Industrial Ethernet, USB and wireless give a scales
manufacturer all the flexibility to able to offer
a solution to all applications. Read

product has been used in weighscales applications
since 1999 and it has been a great success, over
twenty different scales manufactures use Anybus-S as their
communication interface to support different Fieldbus
and Industrial Ethernet networks. Read
