Drives/Inverters and Embedded Anybus
technology
7
of the 10 largest Drives Manufacturers worldwide
are customers of HMS, using products for some, or
all, of the different networks our Anybus concept
supports.
Most Drive applications today need to be
controlled or monitored via a PLC. The large number of internal data
register inside a Drive makes it ideal to control and monitor over
a Fieldbus network or over an Industrial Ethernet network.
The Drives market is very fragmented and most drives manufacturers
need to adapt to the communication system that
is used on PLC systems that the drive connect to.
Networks such as Profibus, DeviceNet, CC-Link,
EtherNet/IP, CANopen and EtherCAT are all networks
that are popular to use in manufacturing automation
and this creates a need for drives manufactures to support these networks
to comply with their customers needs.
In other markets using Drives, like HVAC (Heading,
Ventilation, Air-Conditioning), completely other
networks are used, such as Lonworks and Modbus-RTU.
On top of the myriad of networks that an AC Drives need
to support, there are also some networks that implement
specific device profiles on top of each network, like Profidrive on
Profibus. This gives even more benefits to the end user, simplifying
commissioning and maintenance.
Three categories of embedded Anybus products
are suitable for Drives/Inverters:
Anybus-CompactCom
HMS
latest product development is a high functionally
but low-cost embedded unit that integrate the complete
communication technology, hardware and software,
into a compact unit. The Anybus-CompactCom interchangeability
gives manufacturers of drives maximum flexibility
and after one “design
in” their product can support all major networks.
Today Anybus-CompactCom is available with a general
communication profile, “Communication Adapter” but a profile
targeting specific drives requirement is currently
under development, this will support “Drive Profile” for
relevant networks but still be compatible with
the standard product using Communication Adapter
Profile. Read

Anybus-S
Since
the release 1999 this has been a great success in drives applications,
over forty different drives manufacturers use Anybus-S as their
communication interface to support different Fieldbus and Industrial
Ethernet networks.
It is available with Communication Adapter Profile for
17 (!) different networks, and in a special product
line targeting Drives, the Drive Profile is implemented
for 10 different networks. Read

Anybus-IC
This
product is developed to target low end applications,
needing a simple, quick and cost efficient way
to implement a communication solution in the drive.
